Five for Friday 3-15-13

It's that time again...Five for Friday!  We are linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching
yet again to celebrate FRIDAY!!!!  Let's get the par-tay started!!!

Soaring above the clouds on my way to ASCD. It was a wonderful day to fly.

I'm in Chicago to present at the ASCD conference. What an amazing city!!!  I can't wait to explore!!

Having my little angel read a bedtime story to me!

This weekend is prom for our community high school. And that means creating corsages. I love the detail and creativity it brings into my life. Besides sinking into a great page turning novel, this stuff is amazing therapy.

This week marks my 10th week of doing Crossfit. I've been working extremely hard on trying to get myself into good health. One of my favorite things in Crossfit besides lifting weights is flipping tires. After first time of flipping tires was to flip the 200 pound tire. I am proud to say that after 9 weeks I was able to flip the beast of a tire. It's the small progressions in life that make it all worthwhile.

Five for Friday 3-8-13

We are joining the link par-tay @ Doodle Bug Teaching with our Five for Friday!
Woohoo, its Friday y'all!

1. CRAWFISH!!!!! It's crawfish season and I have yet to have any! I need some crawfish!

2. Gotta love new toys. Had a 46"TV mounted above my Promethean board. Now I can feature apps or allow my kiddos to monitor their Class Dojo points LIVE!!!!!!

3.  Yoga Pants!!!! I love my yoga pants. I don't do yoga, but I wear the pants! So comfy after a long day of teaching. I bought a new pair today!

4.  This week I discovered that I need to cover foreshadowing and flashbacks with my fifth graders. Yep! Panic and stress sets in at this time when there is four weeks until testing. So I go searching for something fantastic. Nothing really stands out! Guess who is developing foreshadowing and flashback lessons this weekend?

5. Two of us work in the same school separated by a hallway. There are times that rarely see each other unless we make it a point to visit the other. Our other team member is down the road teaching in the middle school. We "hangout" through Google from time to time, but our main communication is our group text through the day and into the evening. Our text messages vary from the blog or tech things. However, it is the little conversations that aid us in making it through the day. We celebrate the accomplishments and "boo" the things that set us back. Plain and simple.... we just don't know how we made it through the day before our constant conversation via text message. It truly is the POWER OF 3.

Five For Friday 3-1-13

Joining a little Linky Party with one of our favorite blogger's Doodle Bugs Teaching. I have been itching to do this. So here it goes!

**********************************************************************
1.  With it being Dr. Seuss's birthday tomorrow and the upcoming celebration of Read Across America Week, I stumbled upon the Dr. Seuss Cat Camera as a FREE app this week. Of course I had to try it out on the Yellow Team. I mirrored my iPad to my board so the kids could choose which frame they wanted and it was all smiles and laughs from there.

2. SPACETEAM!!!! I am addicted to the app Spaceteam. It involves a lot of team work and shouting directions at each other. Tried it with my 15 year old son and now we can't stop playing it. Just the two of us play. You can have up to four players, but that causes too much stress for me. He and I got as far as Vector 10 last night. I was so anxious to get home today so he and I could play!!!

Yelling out some of these command to each other can get quite funny. Last night I had to tell my son to "Question his beliefs". We couldn't stop laughing.

3. Dinosaur no more!!!! My teacher workstation had been getting up there in the years and I so needed an updated laptop. Went to a recent tech teacher work day, put my name in for a slightly used laptop, and my name was pulled!!! It may have a few miles on it, but it's new to me!

4. Besides teaching and staying up late hours to work through what is known as the Common Core, my life is going down a new path. The oldest is headed off to college next year. I am trying my best to keep up with college admissions, the last moments of high school stuff, and the emotions of all this business. *SIGH*

5. I love my 5th graders. Gave them a challenge to create sentences demonstrating personification by pulling  just a noun (mainly from nature) and a verb from cups. And their work was beyond my expectation.
