Five For Friday 3-1-13

Joining a little Linky Party with one of our favorite blogger's Doodle Bugs Teaching. I have been itching to do this. So here it goes!

**********************************************************************
1.  With it being Dr. Seuss's birthday tomorrow and the upcoming celebration of Read Across America Week, I stumbled upon the Dr. Seuss Cat Camera as a FREE app this week. Of course I had to try it out on the Yellow Team. I mirrored my iPad to my board so the kids could choose which frame they wanted and it was all smiles and laughs from there.

2. SPACETEAM!!!! I am addicted to the app Spaceteam. It involves a lot of team work and shouting directions at each other. Tried it with my 15 year old son and now we can't stop playing it. Just the two of us play. You can have up to four players, but that causes too much stress for me. He and I got as far as Vector 10 last night. I was so anxious to get home today so he and I could play!!!

Yelling out some of these command to each other can get quite funny. Last night I had to tell my son to "Question his beliefs". We couldn't stop laughing.

3. Dinosaur no more!!!! My teacher workstation had been getting up there in the years and I so needed an updated laptop. Went to a recent tech teacher work day, put my name in for a slightly used laptop, and my name was pulled!!! It may have a few miles on it, but it's new to me!

4. Besides teaching and staying up late hours to work through what is known as the Common Core, my life is going down a new path. The oldest is headed off to college next year. I am trying my best to keep up with college admissions, the last moments of high school stuff, and the emotions of all this business. *SIGH*

5. I love my 5th graders. Gave them a challenge to create sentences demonstrating personification by pulling  just a noun (mainly from nature) and a verb from cups. And their work was beyond my expectation.

  1. I have already been looking up those apps. I will also be stealing your personification idea. So glad I stopped by!
